Here’s what winners are saying about QuiQue Aircraft.
Ivan Kristensen
2007 Ocala IMAC Winner
Dear Quique and Wayne,
Once again I would like to thank you both for making your new 120” YAK-54 available to me to fly in the Tucson Aerobatic Shootout (TAS). As you know I had hoped to have a DA-170 in time for this competition but unfortunately that was not possible. The good news is that a DA-150 combined with Greeve pipes and a Mejzlik 30x12 2-bladed prop turned out to be a near perfect combination.
With about 120 flights on the airplane now I can tell that I have really come to enjoy flying it. At first I was concerned about its weight of 42.5 lbs but that has turned out to be a non-issue. The vertical performance is great and because of the large 2800 sq. in. wing it flies very light, snap rolls are predicable and the axial roll is on a wire.
This airplane has the most powerful rudder I have flown to date. It easily performs knife-edge loops, even square knife-edge loops are flown with ease.
Since the first flight in mid August this year I have flown this airplane in two contests. The first one was the (TAS) Tucson Aerobatic Shootout held in Tucson Arizona in early Oct. Here I took a 13th Place overall in the invitational category. Had it not been for a bit a bad luck and a few zeros in the early rounds of the competition this outcome would have been much better.
After the TAS in Tucson I traveled to Florida where I competed in the Ocala IMAC contest on Oct. 20-21. Here, I am happy to report that, the outcome was much better and I got a first place finish in unlimited.
As a matter of fact David Moser of Florida got a second place in unlimited flying your YAK-54 but it was the 3-W composite version.
My flying season is now finished for the year here in Canada but I will be spending the first 3 months of the New Year (2008) in Florida where I will be participating in several IMAC events. I am looking forward to flying your YAK-54 in these and other events as well. I will let you know how I do.

Wayne and QuiQue,
Enclosed is a pic of your electric Yak that I have been flying for some time. I fly it a lot and am having a ball. I initially flew it with a 3-cell lipo pack and it flew well. When I switched to the 4-cell 2500 pack it really perked up. It has astounding vertical (which I love) and does everything else at partial power. It will do anything in the 3-D world and also flies with precision very well. I have flown it in winds up to 20 mph and also with and without the fins on the wingtips. The fins definitely help particularly high alpha flying where wing rocking just about disappears. Its obvious to me that the tip fins will improve all models since I have tried them on other models also.
This model flies a lot like the 102” Yak which I also fly. It seems to have no pitch or roll coupling which I know that you guys work hard to get out of your designs.
I just wanted to congratulate you for an outstanding model that not only flies exceptionally well but is also a very pretty airplane. Keep up the good work.

Dear QQ, Wayne & Molly,
I LOVE this airplane! (see attached) It flies fantastic! Yes QQ, it reminds me of my pattern days flying my Phoenix. Rolling manuevers are excellent. So easy to perform point rolls. Thanks for talking me into flying it. I think I’m going to become a better pilot because of your Yak. Thanks for taking time to answer questions. I appreciate your help.
I will never forget when I met you at the XFC a few years ago and I had been out of the hobby for over 20 years and when I introduced myself you remembered my flying in South Africa in 1979. I felt so honored that a flyer of your caliber would remember me. I guess I must have left an impression on you, thankfully a good impression. Your Yak is everything you said it is and more. You made a believer out of me! Also, Wayne is such a wonderful engineer of figuring out ways to build stronger and lighter and such a wonderful person. He was very helpful in the last TOC I flew in 1982. Thanks again.
